The Manti-La Sal National Forest is a huge forest in central and southern Utah. The Forest Service wants to authorize prescribed burns for up to 48,000 acres within the forest per year.

Prescribed burns or controlled burns, across public lands are proposed to improve forest health. Vegetation treatments need to be implemented to maintain forests and maintain watersheds. BlueRibbon advocates for active, responsible management throughout all public lands including the wilderness areas. Prescribed burns, when done responsibly can the provide future protections for the forest, wildlife, watersheds. By reducing wildfire risk, properly executed prescribed burns will also allow continued access for recreation.
