James Booker Wood

James Booker Wood

James B. Wood, 71, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away August 24, 2007 at St Alphonsus Hospital in Boise. He was born May 20, 1936, in Berryville Arkansas, the oldest of four children. At age eight, his family moved to Hansen, Idaho, where he attended the local schools. Jim married Evelyn Carson on January 5, 1958, in Burley, Idaho. Together they have three daughters, Bonnie, Nena and Paula.

Jim was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1960. He and his family then moved to Twin Falls where he spent the next 47 years. Jim was the owner/ operator of the Pump and Equipment Company from 1969-1983. In 1983, Jim started his second career with the Twin Falls Sheriff’s Department. He retired in 2001 with 15 years of service. In addition, Jim served as the Twin Falls County Coroner and Civil Defense Director. He was involved with Search and Rescue, Magic Valley Snowmobile Association, Optimist Club, NRA, Jarbridge Shovel Brigade and a charter member of the Magic Valley Machine Association.

Jim was an avid ATV rider, camper and outdoorsman. He was the first to offer help with a project or repair to anyone who needed it. He had many close friends and was well respected by his peers. He was a wonderful husband and terrific dad, father-in-law and grandfather. He was always patient, loving and understanding.
