Northumberland County's OHV Recreation Park to Hold First Public MeetingBLUERIBBON COALITION PARTNER ALERT Northumberland County's OHV Recreation Park to Hold First Public Meeting Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber in Pennsylvania, We just received an email from one of BRC's Board members about an important upcoming meeting. Northumberland County's OHV Recreation Park, which is currently in the planning phase, will be holding their first public meeting tomorrow and your help is needed. I have pasted the information below; please take a minute to read it over and take action. Also, please pass this information on to your friends and family, and please ask them take action as well. Thanks in advance for your involvement, Northumberland County's OHV Recreation Park to Hold First Public Meeting Northumberland County's OHV Recreation Park, located in southern Northumberland County Pennsylvania, is currently in the planning phase. This plan is being facilitated through funding from the Department of Conservation of Natural Resources (DCNR). This planning process is expected to last until December. The proposed plan for the park is to take county owned, abandoned coal lands and convert them into an all-encompassing outdoor recreation park. The first public meeting for the park is Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 6:30 in the Shamokin Area High School Auditorium. We need a good showing of interested persons. This means everyone that reads this and can make the drive. We expect firm resistance from a few very vocal groups. We need to make sure that we get as many persons to the meeting that are not locals. Locals we need you there as well! If you are in a club/group, or know 5 other people that enjoy our sport, tell them. The goal of the project is to build what you guys/gals want and need for your motorized and non-motorized recreational activities. Having 6000+ acres of abandon strip mine land, that has been used extensively for off-roading for the last 40 years, is a great start. Check out Facebook and the web page for updates and progress on the park. Please leave a comment letting us know what you think.
