IDAHO - BLM to Hold Open Houses on Travel Management Planning

Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Cottonwood Field Office is in the early stages of evaluating travel routes across the field office. Due to the expanse of the field office, two planning zones have been established -- North and South. The first zone to be analyzed is identified as the "North Zone Travel Management Plan." This area can generally be described as all BLM-managed lands within Clearwater, Latah, Nez Perce and Lewis counties and continuing south into Idaho County to include Slate Creek on the Lower Salmon River. The North Zone has been subdivided into three travel management units -- Craig Mountain, Clearwater and the Joseph Plains.

Information regarding the "North Zone Travel Management Plan" project, including maps and a comment form, are available online at: http://blm.gov/jqld.

During the Travel Management Planning (TMP) process, the field office will verify the existing route inventory on BLM-managed lands; identify access needs and current uses; identify administrative uses (range, timber, mining, agency); determine types of use (i.e., motorized or non-motorized); and classify special resources affected --such as wildlife, riparian or cultural.

In order to provide information about the process and solicit feedback from the public, the field office will host three public meetings in an open-house format. Public input about the project is important in helping develop an environmental assessment (EA) for a Travel Management Plan.

Public open houses will be held at the following locations:

3:00 to 6:30 p.m.

Clearwater Region Idaho Fish and Game
