WYOMING - BLM Issues Supplement to the Draft Bighorn Basin RMP

Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Cody and Worland field offices announced that supplemental analysis to the Bighorn Basin Draft Resource Management Plan (RMP) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is now available for a 90-day comment period. The supplement addresses priority sage-grouse habitat on public lands within Big Horn, Hot Springs, Park and Washakie counties.

In April 2011, the BLM released the Bighorn Basin Draft RMP/EIS for public review and comment. Since then, as part of the BLM's National Greater Sage-Grouse Planning Strategy, the public was invited to nominate or recommend areas on public lands that could be managed as areas of critical environmental concern (ACEC) because of their importance to sage-grouse and sage-grouse habitat. The supplement that is currently available for review analyzes the proposed designation of two ACECs and other management actions applicable to sage-grouse and ACECs.

To provide the public with opportunities to ask questions and comment on the supplement, the BLM will host meetings during the 90-day comment period.
