IDPR SEEKS RECREATION ENTHUSIASTS TO FILL VACANCIES
ON GRANT ADVISORY COMMITTEES

IDAHO (May 15, 2013) - The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR) provides a variety of funding programs and grants to government entities in Idaho for the provision of equipment and for the creation and renovation of outdoor recreational facilities.

Grant Advisory Committee's evaluate grant applications based on established criteria and make recommendations to the Idaho Park and Recreation Board for funding.

IDPR is accepting applications to fill vacancies on the following Grant Advisory Committees:

  •  Recreational Vehicle (RV) Advisory Committee;
  •  Recreational Trails Program (RTP) Advisory Committee;
  •  Waterways Improvement Fund (WIF) Advisory Committee
  •  Off-Road Motor Vehicle (ORMV) Committee;

Members are required to attend meetings during the year with travel expenses reimbursed. Vacancies are regional. Applications must be received by June 28, 2013 for consideration. Grant detail and committee member vacancy description follows.

RV Advisory Committee - The purpose of the Recreational Vehicle Program is to acquire, purchase, improve, repair, and maintain RV facilities and sites.  There are currently two (2) advisory committee member openings, one for Region I (1) and one for Region IV (4).  Those applying for the RV Committee must live in Idaho, be willing to serve a 3-year term, be an RV owner with valid Idaho RV registration, actively participate in the activity they represent, and attend required meetings.

RTP Advisory Committee - The purpose of the Recreational Trails Program is to acquire, purchase, improve, repair, and maintain trail facilities and sites.  There are currently two (2) advisory committee member openings statewide for the following interests:  Bicycling and Equestrian. Those applying for the RTP Committee must live in Idaho, be willing to serve a 3-year term, be an active participant in the trail activity they represent, and attend required meetings.

WIF Advisory Committee - The purpose of the Water Improvement Fund provided for the promotion of boating safety and improvement protection and promotion of safety, waterways  improvement, creation and improvement of parking areas for boating purposes, making and improving boat ramps and moorings, marking of waterways, search and rescue and including purchase of property for boat related purposes of boating facilities. The WIF Advisory Committee represents boaters' interests to the Idaho Park and Recreation Board.  There are currently two WIF advisory committee member openings; one in Region V (5) and one in Region VI (6). Those applying for the WIF Advisory Committee must live in Idaho, within the respective regions, be willing to serve a three-year term, own a registered vessel, be knowledgeable about boating activities, and attend required meetings.

ORMV Advisory Committee - The purpose of the Off-Road Motor Vehicle Fund is to acquire, purchase, improve, repair, maintain, furnish, and equip off-road motor vehicle facilities and sites or areas used by off-road motor vehicles on public or private land, and to assist with the enforcement of laws and regulations governing the use of off-road vehicles in the State of Idaho. There are currently three ORMV advisory committee member openings: one for Regions III (3) and Region IV (4) representing Motorbike/ATV; one for Regions III (3) and IV (4) representing Snowmobiling; and one for Regions V (5) and VI (6) representing Motorbike/ATV. Those applying for the ORMV Committee must live in Idaho, be willing to serve a three-year term, be an active participant in the off-road activity they represent, and attend required meetings.

The Pacific Southwest Region (Region 5) of the U.S. Forest Service will soon begin environmental analysis under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) based on Subpart C of the Travel Management Rule.
