Oh yeah! A lot of advocates are asking about the public meetings. Click Here for a breakdown of the meetings schedule by State and Region.
Many seasoned access advocates think these meetings are WORST place to give a comment. We agree. Oral comments given at public meetings are rarely recorded accurately and written comments can get lost too easily.
So why go?
Well, some of us lead lives so boring that attending one of these meetings is the highlight of the month!
Seriously... These meetings are pretty good opportunity to get information. I'm planning on attending my local meeting with a list of questions. Not a big list, 5 or 10 questions max.
Some questions I'll be asking:
What will be changed in each land use plan?
Will this process and/or the amendments to specific plans make any changes to travel management?
Will this result in guidance that will affect travel management? If yes, details.
We strongly recommend that folks keep the questions about this process specifically. Limit any question you have about the ESA.
And for those choosing to make comments at the meetings, please make sure all your comments are in writing.
